bullet  Death Notes:

ISIS RECORDER: Date of paper not known. OBITUARY: MRS JOSEPH PITT. The hands of death on Tuesday removed from our midst another member of the district's noble band of pioneers in the person of Mrs Joseph Pitt, who had been associated with the progress of the Isis and particularly Apple Tree Creek, for a period of 44 years. For the past few months she had experienced failing health and despite all that human aid could do passed peacefully away at the home of her daughter, Mrs V Kling, Whitebridge early on Tuesday
morning, at the age of 69 years.
The late Mrs Pitt was one of those grand Australians who displayed indomitable courage in facing the vissitudes of early pioneering life. A native of Maryborough she was married to Joseph Pitt in the year of 1888, and some five years later the young couple set out to carve their home on an area of virgin scrub land situated on the Apple Tree Creek road. In 1904, however, as a result of the untimely demise of her husband, the late Mrs Pitt became the sole breadwinner of a large young family and by her great devotion and sacrifice
eventually reared her children to manhood and womanhood. As the years went by she identified herself with the social life of the community, giving freely of her services to patriotic movements and in promoting the welfare of the institutions of Apple Tree Creek, especially the School and Methodist Church. On the Roll of Honour at A. T. Creek is inscribed the name of one son, Joseph, who paid the supreme sacrifice. Members of
the family surviving are Messrs. James (Apple Tree Creek). John (Mackay), Mesdames V Kling (Whitebridge), S Harris (Hambledon), and C S Dilger (Horton), to whom sincere sympathy is extended.
The funeral took place from the Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon and was well attended by relatives and friends. Rev J Bean officiated and the pall bearers were as follows:- At the Church: Messrs J Pitt, F Pitt, S Pitt, V Kling, J Kling and C S Dilger; at the cemetery: Messrs C Hammann, F Pitt, S Pitt, J Kling, C Kling and C Dilger. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs R H and L Garland, and included among a beautiful collection of floral tributes placed on the grave was an immortelle from Mr and Mrs Kling and family and wreaths from Mr and Mrs G D Templeton and Keith; Mr and Mrs Geo Beale; Mr and Mrs Darnell; the Breusch family; Mr and Mrs C S Dilger; Jim and Ivy and family; Mr and Mrs J J Dilger; Keith and Barney and family; Mr and Mrs J McGibbon; Mr and Mrs J T Cox; Daughters and Sons Mrs J Pitt; Mr and Mrs A Hebbard; Mr and Mrs Lavender and family; Mr and Mrs G McGibbon; Mr and Mrs McKenzie and family; S Pitt, Glad, Ted, Pat and family; Mr and Mrs C H Wegert and family; Mr and Mrs J Mackie; Mrs Bax senr and family; Glad, Ned and Mary McGibbon and L Trevor.
